Job summary

Olds College Of Agriculture & Technology is seeking an Instructional Assistant for Equine Programs on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will assist instructors, help manage labs, care for horses, and ensure a safe learning environment for students.

Responsibilities include setting up labs, organizing materials, and coordinating with the Associate Dean on workload priorities. A minimum of three years in related equine work is expected, with RVT or post-secondary education considered an

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of direct equine massage therapy or related equine industry experience.
  • Experience with horse care and handling.
  • RVT designation or post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
  • Solid computer skills including Google Suite and willingness to learn new programs.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
  • Clear communication and problem-solving abilities with attention to accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist instructors and students in the classroom and hands-on labs across equine courses.
  • Set up and take down lab activities and demonstrations.
  • Organize and maintain models, equipment and horses used in courses.
  • Coordinate materials/supplies and prepare lab resources for instruction.
  • Order, purchase and inventory materials for assigned classes.
  • Support safety of students in various teaching scenarios.
  • Maintain email communication and coordinate with the Associate Dean on priorities.
  • Participate in Instructional Support Teams and College groups; weekend work may be required.
