Zusammenfassung

Southwestern Public Health is seeking an Epidemiologist under the direction of the Manager, Foundational Standards. The role focuses on measurement, monitoring, analysis, and interpretation of population health and surveillance data to inform planning, evaluation, and outbreak response.

Responsibilities include developing health status reports and knowledge products, applying advanced epidemiologic and statistical methods, and collaborating with teams across public health programs.

Qualifikationen

  • Minimum of one year of public health practice with quantitative research experience.
  • Experience with large administrative databases.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (Stata, R, SAS, SPSS) and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of datasets such as CCHS, BORN, IPHIS, IntelliHealth is an asset.

Jobbeschreibung

Under the direction of the Manager, Foundational Standards, the Epidemiologist conducts measurement, monitoring, analysis, and interpretation of population health and surveillance data that are utilized for program planning and evaluation, outbreak management and the development of health status reports and knowledge products.

Qualifications
Education
  • Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, Health Research Methodology or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of public health practice, with a role involving quantitative research methodologies and working with large administrative databases preferred
  • Experience using statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SAS, SPSS) and proficiency using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and other software packages currently used to collect, analyze, report and visualize epidemiological data in Ontario
  • Experience with relevant public health data sets and information systems such as the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS), Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN), Integrated Public Health Information System (IPHIS) and IntelliHealth would be an asset
  • Sound knowledge of how to apply epidemiological concepts, of current public health issues, and relevant legislation
Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced skills in the application of epidemiologic and statistical methods in the study of communicable and non-communicable diseases
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) along with strong facilitation (presentation), project management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to prioritize work, along with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in a team environment, respond to competing priorities, build collaborative partnerships, integrate public health programs and knowledge, and deliver results through excellent customer service
