Epic Data Courier Administrator and Environment & Release Manager
This Epic Data Courier Administrator and Environment & Release Manager role will use the clinical, computer science and/or technical skills to support the Epic Health Information System (HIS). The Epic Data Courier Administrator and Release Manager is responsible for the Data Courier and the shared master files strategies development, implementation, and maintenance including planning, implementation, testing, quality assurance, documentation, and user acceptance criteria. This role defines and implements the change control processes and coordinates key Epic environment activities including updates, upgrades, and build migration. This position will work closely with the technical teams and vendor to coordinate Code installs, manage the Epic environment strategy, and support the architecture of the Epic application.
Here's What You'll Do
- Act as a liaison between the technical team and the application team
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot issues related to the Data Courier interfaces
- Manage the migration and troubleshooting of application build across Epic environments
- Maintain Data Courier interfaces and protection settings in accordance with policies and procedures
- Instruct application analysts on Data Courier and import/export functionality
- Resolve CID/UCI synchronization issues
- Work with core application team members to import, export, and troubleshoot master file migration
- Oversee Sherlock Administration, monitor and assist with SLG's, monitor and sign Release Authorizations
- Review Care Concern bulletins for impact, tracking of code needed for issue resolution, ad hoc Code management, Nova Administration, coordinate and manage downtime activities
- Coordinate Epic software releases and updates and initiate the process for distributing and reviewing release notes
- Help coordinate and manage the testing for upgrade releases
- Establish a sign-off process for Release Authorizations (RAs) from Epic
- Participate in or lead change control, upgrade planning, downtime planning, and go-live planning committees/working groups
- Lead the operational change control process for the SickKids Epic team and the KHA Shared change control process
- Be a liaison between the Epic Program and IMT change management processes
- Design data migration strategies and manage large data loads
- Coordinate and manage the Epic upgrade and update activities of the application and technical team leads
- Serve as the Release Coordinator, coordinating Epic Monthly Releases and Quarterly Upgrades
- Track update and patch levels for each production and non-production environment
- Communicate information about environment activities (refreshes, downtimes, upgrades, patches) and enforce proper environment use for build, testing, and training for project team and end users
- Coordinate the configuration and ongoing support of Epic Business Continuity Access; BCA Web and Web Data Entry
- Communicate effectively to departments outside of the Epic program team on changes and impact to downstream systems
- Maintain close communication with the Epic technical team and the interface team
Here's What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, technology, or other relevant area
- Healthcare IT experience
- Epic Certified
- 2-3 years experience as an Epic Application Specialist / Epic Analyst
- Ability to communicate with both application and technical team members
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written, with all levels of staff (leaders, SMEs), within the IMT department, and with other corporate and clinical departments
- Results, process and detail-oriented
- Exhibit confidence with the ability to hold team members accountable for following established policies and procedures
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills
- Eagerness and ability to learn the system and promote it within the organization
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
- Learn, understand and apply new technologies
- Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Resilience, innovation and creativity are essential
- Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
