Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Ontario is seeking Environmental Services personnel to maintain clean, safe patient areas across campus locations. Duties include floor care, waste handling, washroom hygiene, and terminal cleaning for admissions readiness.

Ideal candidates have prior EVS experience, WHMIS training, English proficiency, and an Infection Control Core Competency Certificate. Flexibility to work across campuses and respond to CBRN incidents is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in Environmental Services is required.
• Must have at least 70% on Environmental Services Core Competency test.
• Minimum Grade 11 education or equivalent.
• Able to read, write and speak English competently.
• WHMIS training completed.
• Able to operate housekeeping equipment including swing buffer and scrubber.
• May be required to use CBRN gear and Tyvek suit.
• Infection Control Core Competency Certificate is required.
• Physical ability to lift 20–30 pounds.
• Willing to respond to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear incidents.
• Able to work at all campus locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning including mopping, waste collection, washrooms, and carpet care.
• Carry out terminal cleaning for admissions preparation.
• Clean isolation rooms per Infection Prevention Control protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Duties:

Must perform all duties as per the ESP role profile, but not limited to:

• Dry and wet mop floors and stairs, collect garbage, clean washrooms and replenish supplies, vacuum and spot clean carpets.
• Carry out terminal cleaning procedures as prescribed by established procedures in preparation for new admissions.
• Clean isolation rooms according to specific Infection Prevention Control protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Must have previous experience in Environmental Services
• Must have obtained a score of 70% or greater on the Environmental Services Core Competency test
• Minimum Grade 11 education (or recognized equivalent)
• Ability to read, write and speak English competently
• Must have attended WHMIS training
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Must be willing and prepared to operate all housekeeping related equipment including swing buffer, high speed burnisher and automatic scrubber
• Must be prepared and able to use all personal protective equipment including CBRN gear, full-faced mask, and Tyvek suit
• Must possess an Infection Control Core Competency Certificate
• Must be able to lift 20-30 pounds
• Must be able to perform the essential physical duties of the job
• Must be prepared to respond to and attend to Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents
