Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre seeks an Environmental Services associate to perform cleaning duties across campuses, including mopping, waste removal, washroom servicing, and replenishing supplies. You will execute terminal cleaning for admissions and clean isolation rooms per infection control protocols.

Requirements include prior Environmental Services experience, WHMIS training, ability to read and communicate in English, and the physical ability to lift 20–30 pounds.

Qualifications

• Experience in Environmental Services is required.
• Must have scored 70%+ on Environmental Services Core Competency test.
• Minimum Grade 11 education or equivalent.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English competently.
• Must have attended WHMIS training.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Familiar with housekeeping equipment including swing buffers, burnishers, and automatic scrubbers.
• Must be prepared to use PPE including CBRN gear, full-face mask and Tyvek suit.
• Infection Control Core Competency Certificate required.
• Physical ability to lift 20–30 pounds.
• Able to perform essential physical duties and respond to CBRN incidents.
• Willing to work at all campuses.

Job description

Summary of Duties:

Must perform all duties as per the ESP role profile, but not limited to:

• Dry and wet mop floors and stairs, collect garbage, clean washrooms and replenish supplies, vacuum and spot clean carpets.
• Carry out terminal cleaning procedures as prescribed by established procedures in preparation for new admissions.
• Clean isolation rooms according to specific Infection Prevention Control protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Must have previous experience in Environmental Services
• Must have obtained a score of 70% or greater on the Environmental Services Core Competency test
• Minimum Grade 11 education (or recognized equivalent)
• Ability to read, write and speak English competently
• Must have attended WHMIS training
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Must be willing and prepared to operate all housekeeping related equipment including swing buffer, high speed burnisher and automatic scrubber
• Must be prepared and able to use all personal protective equipment including CBRN gear, full-faced mask, and Tyvek suit
• Must possess an Infection Control Core Competency Certificate
• Must be able to lift 20-30 pounds
• Must be able to perform the essential physical duties of the job
• Must be prepared to respond to and attend to Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents
