Position Overview

Title: Environmental Services Assistant Operations Manager

Salary: $70,304 per year

Telecommute Status: Onsite

Position Summary

Under minimal supervision, the Environmental Services Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for part or all of the healthcare facility during their assigned shift and supervises the daily work of the staff. Employees assist management in maintaining cleanliness quality through inspections, training, and employee accountability, including counseling or disciplinary actions. This role requires knowledge of healthcare custodial techniques and practices, safety and security protocols, workplace safety, contract management, and the ability to organize and manage multiple projects.

Duties
  • Directs and supervises assigned staff to perform environmental services with emphasis on Infection Control.
  • Assists Operation Manager with employee hiring and disciplinary processes up to and including terminations.
  • Conducts or participates in the investigation process in response to incidents.
  • Conducts periodic inspections of the entire facility to ensure safety, security and cleanliness standards.
  • Supervises employees; ensures a competent, motivated team through hiring, training, development, counseling and performance reviews.
  • Writes incident reports and suggests corrective measures as applicable.
  • Conducts inspections for quality and safety, making necessary corrections.
  • Understands all employee work assignments and schedules resources for adequate coverage.
  • Conducts training and retraining as necessary, following recommended training processes.
  • Evaluates and validates the competencies of frontline workers, recommending and/or conducting additional training or support when needed.
  • Audits safety and security measures and reports deficiencies as appropriate.
  • Provides functional/operational support to the work area at times of emergency, catastrophe, inclement weather, etc.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with the site Point of Contact (POC), ensuring services are performed in accordance with contract and resolving any service issues.
  • Schedules and prioritizes tasks, ensuring adherence to procedures, regulations and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Assumes responsibility for the entire facility in the absence of the Operations Manager.
  • Reports any injuries or accidents, including those caused by PRIDE employees, to the Senior Management team immediately.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of experience in environmental services and/or custodial maintenance, including lead worker responsibilities; prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or physical challenges, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cal OSHA and OSHA occupational safety regulations.
  • Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, provide professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes effectively, and address employee relations appropriately.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and develop the assigned team to meet production/service goals while adhering to safety policies and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to make presentations and respond to inquiries from senior management, customers and/or employees.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, reasoning, problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Human‑relation skills to build effective relationships with team, customers and the public.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
  • Excellent written business English, including vocabulary, spelling and correct grammatical usage and punctuation.
  • Mathematical skills for practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
  • Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business, operational and strategic management problems.
  • Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Mental Requirements

This position requires the ability to maintain sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful situations (physical, mental, and emotional) without compromising the employee’s health or that of co‑workers.

Certificates Required
  • Valid Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements
  • Maneuvering in and around the worksite.
  • Standing and walking.
  • Bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping.
  • Lifting boxes or equipment up to 35 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Pushing or pulling objects such as vacuums, carts, mops, etc.
  • Potentially pushing/pulling equipment up to 70 pounds.
  • Grasping both small and large objects.
  • Climbing ladders and/or step stools.
Work Environment

Work is performed in a prison healthcare facility with specialized needs for security and environmental control. Employees may be exposed to dirt, dust, odors, toxic chemicals, bodily fluids, feces and infectious diseases, and will work in high‑security areas with protocols. Employees may also be exposed to weather elements such as wind, rain, cold and heat. Work may require exceeding 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.
