Job summary

WRHN Midtown is seeking an Environmental Services worker (unscheduled part-time) to perform cleaning tasks in patient rooms, washrooms and common areas. You will be trained in discharge and isolation cleaning, floor care, and restocking according to established schedules.

The role requires prior janitorial experience, ability to operate cleaning machinery, and reliable attendance. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to support a safe, clean hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Previous janitorial/housekeeping experience in an institutional setting.
• Ability to operate buffers, floor scrubbers and related equipment.
• Good attendance and reliability.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to push, pull and lift heavy equipment.
• Ability to climb ladders and stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform wet and dry mopping, washroom cleaning, vacuuming, machine scrubbing, changing cubicle drapes, laundry and garbage collection.
• Discharge and isolation cleaning of patient rooms will be trained and performed as required.
• Assist with floor buffing, burnishing and refinishing; wall washing, vent light and ceiling cleaning per schedules.
• Clean patient rooms, common areas and washrooms to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Position Summary

The successful incumbent will be responsible for such activities as wet and dry mopping, washroom cleaning, vacuuming, machine scrubbing, changing cubicle drapes, laundry and garbage collection, equipment cleaning, waste and recycle removal and restocking along with other duties. Individuals will also be trained to do discharge and isolation cleaning of patient rooms. Floor buffing, burnishing and refinishing along with wall washing, vent light and ceiling cleaning will be completed according to established schedules. They will also be responsible for cleaning patient rooms, common areas and washrooms. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Position Requirements

• Previous experience in a janitorial/housekeeping position, preferably in an institutional environment an asset
• Must be able to perform duties efficiently under limited supervision
• Ability to operating machinery – buffers, floor scrubbers, etc.
• Good attendance record
• Good Interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to push, pull and lift heavy equipment
• Ability to climb ladders
• Ability to walk and stand constantly

Salary

CAD 24.70-26.50
