Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking an Environmental Services staff member trained to work in healthcare to clean and disinfect clinical and non-clinical areas within a hospital or facility.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, stocking supplies, stripping linen, operating cleaning equipment, and reporting hazards. The role supports Linen & Environmental Services and offers a Regular Part Time schedule at Grimshaw Berwyn Community.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Knowledge and operation of computers and smartphones.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift.
• Physically capable to lift up to 25 lbs and push and pull up to 50 lbs of force.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, able to follow oral and written instruction.
• Basic knowledge and operation of a computer and a smart phone.
• Must be dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments.
• Sweep, mop and vacuum floors; restock bathroom facilities.

• Operate industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration.

Description

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.
