Job summary

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking an Environmental Services II to join Provost Health Centre. This role clean and disinfect patient areas, offices and staff spaces, following AHS standards and safety policies.

You will receive training and work a mix of day, evening and weekend shifts. As an Environmental Services staff, you will perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, restocking supplies, and operating cleaning equipment.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent is required.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements.
• Physically capable to lift up to 25 lbs and push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical and office areas per standards.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, restock supplies; strip linen and make beds.
• Identify hazards, report to supervisor; may train staff.

Your Opportunity

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services II (cleaner/housekeeper trained to work in healthcare) that is dedicated to both high-quality work and safety. AHS will provide the necessary training to safely clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, office areas, and other common staff/public areas in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. Shift schedules may include a combination of day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Description

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.
