Job summary

• Operate industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; wash ceilings/windows.
• Identify and report hazards to leadership; may train or orient Environmental or Laundry staff.

Job description

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services (cleaner/housekeeper trained to work in healthcare) that is dedicated to both high-quality work and safety.AHS will provide the necessary training to safely clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, office areas, and other common staff/public areas in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. Shift schedules may include a combination of day, evening, nights, and weekend shifts.In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.
