Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a dependable environmental services staff member trained to work in healthcare facilities. You will clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, offices and other common areas according to AHS standards. Shifts may include days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, stocking, linen handling, and operating cleaning equipment. A criminal record check is required; training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements.
• Physically capable to lift up to 25 lbs and push and pull up to 50 lbs.
• Basic knowledge and operation of a computer and a smartphone.
• Dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect clinical and non-clinical areas including patient rooms, offices and common staff/public areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, restock supplies and strip linen; make beds.
• Operate industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration.
• Wash ceilings and windows; empty hazardous waste; replenish cleaning supplies and linens.
• Identify and report potential hazards to the Working Leader and assist with training of Environmental or Laundry staff.

Shift schedules may include a combination of days, evenings, nights and weekends shifts.

Description:

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.
