Job summary

Alberta Health Services in High Level, AB seeks an Environmental Services staff member for the Northwest Healthcentre. The casual/relief position covers cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical areas, with shifts across days, evenings, nights and weekends.

The role includes floor care, restocking, linen handling and waste management, plus reporting hazards to the Working Leader. Eligible staff receive a Northern Allowance and travel expense reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Knowledge and operation of computers and smartphones.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements.
• Physically capable to lift up to 25 lbs and push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming.
• Restocking supplies in bathroom facilities.
• Stripping linen and making beds.
• Operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration.
• Thorough washing of ceilings and windows.
• Emptying hazardous waste.
• Replenishing cleaning supplies and linens.
• Identifying and reporting potential hazards to Working Leader.
• May provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.

Your Opportunity:

Northern Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility.
