Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking an Environmental Services staff for Galahad Care Centre. You will perform cleaning and disinfection tasks in clinical and non-clinical healthcare areas, restock supplies, and operate cleaning equipment to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

The role requires Grade 10 or equivalent, comfort with computers and smartphones, and physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs and push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Your Opportunity

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience performing environmental Cleaning duties in a hospital or institution. Knowledge and application of WHMIS. Experience operating industrial cleaning equipment. Demonstrated proficiency in the English Language, both written and verbal; and Basic computer knowledge.
