Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking an Environmental Services cleaner/housekeeper to perform a range of cleaning tasks in clinical and non-clinical areas, including treatment rooms and staff spaces. You will operate industrial cleaning equipment, restock supplies, and assist with safety and housekeeping duties across Elk Point Healthcare Centre.

The role emphasizes reliable, organized, and time-efficient work to support staff, patients, families, and volunteers while maintaining high cleanliness

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Knowledge and operation of computers and smartphones.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift.
• Physically capable to lift up to 25 lbs and push and pull up to 50 lbs of force.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop and vacuum as part of routine cleaning.
• Restock supplies in bathroom facilities.
• Strip linen and make beds.
• Operate industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance.
• Thoroughly wash ceilings and windows.
• Empty hazardous waste and replenish cleaning supplies and linens.
• Identify and report hazards to the supervisor and assist with training.

The Environmental Services – Cleaner/Housekeeper performs a range of cleaning services in clinical and non-clinical areas, including treatment rooms, staff areas, and public spaces. They will also perform non-routine and deep cleaning tasks, as well as use industrial equipment to perform their work.You will join a team of over 6,000 Environmental Service workers making a difference every day by cleaning, sanitizing, organizing, and restocking to make sure everyone’s experience at AHS is safe, clean, and healthy.

Description:

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful completion of a basic housekeeping program is an asset.
