Job summary

Orano Canada is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join the Saskatoon team, supporting environmental programs across the mine life-cycle. You will work with a multidisciplinary group to design and manage monitoring, assessments and reporting, with a focus on safety and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

  • University degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, toxicology, or a relevant discipline; M.Sc. or Ph.D. is an asset.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in planning and conducting technical environmental programs and sampling in remote areas and industrial sites.
  • Demonstrated skills in environmental data analysis and preparation of technical reports.
  • Eligible for or holding a relevant professional designation or accreditation (e.g., P.Biol., P.Ag., EP) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Comfortable travelling to remote field sites.
  • Ability to lead and actively participate in a team environment, as well as work independently.
  • Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with peers, other departments and consultants in a diverse, multi‑disciplinary project team.

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of technical programs in areas such as Environmental Monitoring and Supplementary Studies (including groundwater, surface water, soil, vegetation, wildlife, aquatic ecosystems, and air quality)
  • Environmental Risk and Impact Assessments
  • Biodiversity Surveys and Habitat Assessment
  • Environmental Data Management
  • Progressive Reclamation Programs
  • Environmental Compliance and Management Systems
  • Assist in the preparation and communication of a variety of technical and regulatory documents for intended audiences including internal circulation, regulatory review, and right‑holder communication
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of technical field programs
  • Develop a sound knowledge of the company’s operations and the technical requirements imposed by legislation and various permits and licenses
  • Remain informed on technical advancements in environmental management and science practices as they relate to Orano Canada’s sites
  • Promote and support Operational Excellence and OE culture
  • Comply with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures

Environmental Scientist – Saskatoon

Orano Canada is a leading producer of uranium in Canada, working to power the future with clean energy! This position will be part of a multidisciplinary team of Environmental and Geoscience professionals tasked with developing and managing programs that support all aspects of the mine life‑cycle. Salary Range

$88,140 – $112,700. Compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate’s level of skill, education, and experience, and may vary within the posted salary range.
