Job Description

Working within SLR’s Land Quality and Remediation team under the guidance of Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals and other senior contaminated sites experts on a variety of interesting and complex sites across BC. As our new Environmental Scientist / Engineer, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving sustainability goals.

Role

As a member of our Land Quality and Remediation team, you’ll enjoy a flexible and dynamic work environment. Your personal success will depend on your collaborative working style, client-centric mindset, and superb project management and technical skills. You will work closely with professionals in the contaminated sites assessment and remediation industry to design, implement, and deliver a wide range of projects for diverse clients across BC in the Power, Energy, Infrastructure, Mining, Industrial, and Built Environment sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Management of contaminated projects including site investigations, monitoring and sampling programs, and remediation programs.
  2. Manage projects ensuring successful delivery with respect to health & safety, scope, schedule, budget, QA/QC, and client satisfaction.
  3. Coordination and supervision of field staff and subcontractors.
  4. Working closely with experienced team members to develop work plans and execute projects.
  5. Analysis and interpretation of environmental data and preparation of technical reports for senior review and submission to clients and regulators.
  6. Liaison and relationship building with clients and other project stakeholders.
  7. Active participation in proposals and other business development opportunities.
  8. Provision of technical leadership through mentoring of staff.
  9. Working with multidisciplinary teams to integrate findings and interpretations.

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:

  • 5+ years of experience in the environmental consulting industry.
  • Strong technical background in environmental site assessment and remediation, waste discharge permitting and compliance, and/or construction environmental management.
  • Working knowledge of provincial (BC CSR) and federal (CCME) environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or geosciences preferred.
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., R.P.Bio., P.Chem.).
  • Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle required for travel to job sites/clients.
