Job summary

SLR Consulting (Canada) is seeking an experienced Environmental Risk Assessor to support a national team delivering human health and ecological risk assessments across Canada. You will apply regulatory knowledge, develop technical scopes, and contribute to proposals and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in biology, toxicology, chemistry, soil science, geoscience, or related field.
• 6 to 12 years of experience preparing risk assessments for diverse audiences including regulators.
• Experience with environmental data collection and community surveys.
• Strong analytical and data management skills; proficient in spreadsheets and automation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present to clients and regulators.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver human health and ecological risk assessments, risk management plans, and related studies under regulatory frameworks.
• Support proposal development, including scoping, planning, and budgeting activities.
• Evaluate site-specific characteristics, data, receptor exposure assumptions, and toxicity information to inform models.
• Prepare detailed conceptual site models from field data and lab results.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare high-quality technical reports for clients and regulators.
• Contribute to proposals and provide technical support to projects led by other disciplines, such as site assessment and ecology.
• Mentor and support junior staff, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
