By integrating advisory services with over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines, we help clients navigate complex environmental challenges and advance their sustainability goals. At SLR, our work supports better environmental outcomes for communities, ecosystems, and industry.

Together with our clients, we are committed to Making Sustainability Happen.

As our newest Environmental Risk Assessor, you will play an important role in supporting this mission. Working within our national Risk Assessment team, you will contribute to a variety of complex environmental projects while applying your regulatory knowledge and continuing to expand your expertise in provincial and federal requirements.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and regulators to develop technical scopes of work, prepare proposals, and support the successful management and delivery of projects.

This role offers exceptional opportunities for professional growth, providing the chance to work on projects from coast to coast and collaborate with experienced teams across North America, all while gaining exposure to a wide range of regulatory frameworks, environmental challenges, and consulting practices.

Working on complex, multidisciplinary projects across sectors such as mining, oil and gas, land development, and federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal jurisdictions will allow you to continually deepen your technical expertise. You’ll also gain valuable experience navigating emerging contaminants and engaging with diverse stakeholders, including regulators, Indigenous communities, industry partners, and the general public.

This variety will not only strengthen your technical foundation, but accelerate your development as a well-rounded environmental professional capable of leading in dynamic and evolving practice areas.

Our team is passionate about delivering high-quality work and building strong client relationships. We are looking for someone who shares this mindset and brings strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic consulting environment.

Success in this role will require flexibility, independence, and a commitment to delivering high-quality technical work.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include
  • Develop and deliver human health and ecological risk assessments, risk management plans, performance verification plans, etc. in accordance with provincial, territorial, and federal regulatory frameworks
  • Support proposal development, including contributing to project scoping, planning, and budgeting activities
  • Evaluate site-specific physical characteristics, environmental data, receptor exposure assumptions, and toxicity information to inform the development of exposure and risk models
  • Prepare detailed conceptual site models by consolidating and interpreting field data, laboratory results, and other relevant site and receptor information
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare high-quality technical reports and effectively communicate findings to clients, regulators, and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to proposal writing and provide technical support to projects led by other disciplines, such as site assessment and ecology
  • Mentor and support junior staff, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team
