Job summary

Panasonic Canada Inc. is seeking an Environmental Regulatory Manager to lead compliance with Canadian environmental regulations for Panasonic products. This role acts as the regulatory expert, driving sustainability initiatives and ensuring accountable product compliance through data collection, analysis, and reporting.

This full-time, hybrid position is based in Mississauga. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada; Panasonic does not sponsor work permits or permanent residency.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Environmental Science or related discipline; 7–10 years in environmental compliance programs and audits.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance frameworks, and risk management practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP for data reporting and compliance management.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret environmental regulations impacting Panasonic products and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial environmental legislation and corporate policies.
  • Maintain compliance databases, prepare reports, and manage environmental documentation and files.
  • Coordinate EPR compliance including recycling, packaging, and reporting with regulators and PROs.
  • Support sustainability, ESG initiatives, and environmental risk management initiatives.

Overview

Panasonic Canada Inc. is currently looking to hire for the position of Environmental Regulatory Manager.

Leads Panasonic Canada Inc.'s efforts to ensure compliance with Canadian environmental regulations applicable to Panasonic products. Recognized as the subject matter expert on environmental regulatory requirements, driving initiatives that advance Panasonic's environmental responsibility, circular economy goals, and sustainable product compliance strategy. Applies data collection, analysis, and verification practices to assess regulatory compliance, develop reports, and establish effective processes that support compliance with current and emerging environmental regulations.

This is a full-time position.

This position is hybrid. Any office-based work will be performed from our Mississauga office at Ambler Drive.

Responsibilities
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate environmental regulations impacting Panasonic Canada products and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial environmental legislation, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
  • Research environmental requirements and recommend improvements to processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Manage environmental audits, communicate findings, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Keep management informed of regulatory changes, emerging legislation, compliance risks, and corporate initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance databases, analyze data, prepare reports, and manage required environmental documentation and technical files.
  • Review supplier material declarations, assess product Bills of Materials (BOMs), and manage restricted substance, material disclosure, and substance reporting requirements.
  • Support product lifecycle compliance, new product introductions, customer inquiries, and supplier adherence to Panasonic environmental requirements.
  • Coordinate Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance, including recycling, battery stewardship, packaging, and paper program reporting; liaise with Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs), stewardship agencies, and regulators.
  • Support sustainability and ESG initiatives through environmental reporting, compliance data collection, waste reduction, recycling, circular economy programs, environmental impact assessments, and advising management on potential risks and implications.
Qualifications
MUST-HAVES:
  • University degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline, with 7-10 years of experience in environmental compliance programs, environmental audits, impact assessments, and participation in industry associations (co-op experience may be considered).
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance frameworks, and environmental risk management practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and advanced Excel functions.
  • Experience using SAP and managing environmental compliance data and reporting.
  • Ability to analyze complex information, assess risks, and develop recommendations to support business objectives and future commitments.
  • Experience researching regulatory requirements and recommending improvements to processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Strong operational management skills, including planning, communication, team collaboration, issue resolution, prioritization, and organizational effectiveness
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems through in-depth analysis and evaluation of environmental compliance risks and business impacts.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences and address concerns from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and influencing skills, including collaborating with team members, communicating challenging information when required, working with factories to resolve conflicting positions, obtaining approvals, and facilitating practical solutions.
What You’ll Earn

The annual salary range for this position is $93,000 - $106,000 CAD.

In addition, the position of Environmental Regulatory Manager is eligible for a maximum annual bonus of 10% of the base salary based on achievement of predetermined objectives.

Actual compensation offered to the selected incumbent will vary depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills and experience related to the role.
