Job Description

The Remediation Program Management (RPM) team offers an opportunity to apply your skills and join a diverse, growing team within WSP. We support our clients in contaminated site assessment, remediation, and reclamation. A typical day as an Environmental Project Coordinator includes:

  • Applying and expanding your technical, client, and project management skills in a Canadian-based firm.
  • Understanding project objectives related to contaminated site closure and proposing solutions to project managers and mentors.
  • Coordinating projects, including setting up field work, preparing instructions, health and safety plans, managing budgets and schedules, subcontractors, and documentation.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Assisting in data collection, analysis, and reporting for environmental assessments, remediation, and reclamation.
  • Developing your career through mentorship and planning.
  • Participating in a client-specific team of 30-40 professionals, leveraging the broader RPM expertise.
  • Engaging with Practice Area Networks for complex technical issues, potentially collaborating across locations like Australia, Malaysia, or Saskatoon.
  • Completing fieldwork in Western Canada (up to 25%), including Phase 1 and 2 ESAs, drilling, groundwater sampling, remediation, and reclamation.
  • Leading or supporting technically challenging environmental projects.

Qualities and Qualifications

You are:

  • Detail-oriented, thriving in an office environment (up to 75%).
  • Excellent in communication and coordination.
  • Enjoy mentoring and training junior staff.
  • Eager to learn continuously.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in environmental site assessment and remediation.
  • Experience related to the upstream oil and gas industry is an asset.
  • Eligibility to register as a Professional or Professional in Training with relevant associations (AIA, APEGA, etc.).
