What you can expect to do here:
As an Environmental Planner, you will:
- Assist in preparing environmental planning documentation for transportation and other infrastructure planning projects
- Support environmental assessments and consultation processes under Ontario’s EA frameworks (Municipal Class EA, MTO Class EA, Transit Project Assessment Process)
- Help compile and review technical documents for regulatory approvals
- Participate in stakeholder and Indigenous engagement initiatives
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to project coordination
- Learn the ropes of project management and support proposal development
- Champion health and safety and live WSP’s core values
What you’ll bring to WSP:
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, science, or a related field
- Up to 2 years of experience (including internships or co-op placements)
- Familiarity with Ontario’s EA processes and environmental legislation is a plus
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- A collaborative spirit and eagerness to learn
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (Environmental Assessment Act, Endangered Species Act, Ontario Heritage Act, etc.)
- Eligibility or interest in becoming a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with OPPI or obtaining Environmental Professional certification from ECO Canada
