As part of our growing environmental team, the Environmental Manager will support environmental management activities across projects on Vancouver Island. Based in or near Victoria, this role provides technical leadership and day‑to‑day guidance to a small team of environmental professionals while supporting project teams in achieving environmental compliance and performance objectives. Reporting to the Regional Environmental Director, the Environmental Team Lead plays a key role in implementing environmental programs, identifying risks and opportunities, supporting project delivery, and ensuring consistency of environmental practices across both civil and building projects.

What You Will Do
Team Leadership & Coordination
  • Lead, mentor and support a small team of environmental professionals, fostering collaboration, professional growth and accountability.
  • Organize work assignments, establish priorities and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery of environmental services.
  • Provide clear direction and technical guidance to team members and project stakeholders.
  • Support resource planning discussions with Project Directors and the Environmental Director to ensure projects receive appropriate environmental support.
  • Escalate strategic, complex or high‑risk issues when required.
Environmental Management & Project Support
  • Implement and maintain Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and environmental programs across projects.
  • Ensure environmental requirements are integrated into project planning and execution.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, including operations, engineering and quality personnel, to identify practical and effective solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise on environmental challenges such as water management, erosion and sediment control, noise, vibration and marine environments.
  • Identify environmental risks, challenges and opportunities and recommend mitigation measures.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Support compliance with environmental permits, authorizations and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring activities and ensure the quality of environmental reporting and documentation.
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses and development of corrective actions.Conduct environmental inspections, compliance reviews and internal audits.
  • Monitor environmental performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Serve as a key environmental resource for Vancouver Island projects.
  • Foster collaboration between project teams and environmental personnel.
  • Promote consistency in environmental practices, tools and expectations across projects.
  • Contribute technical expertise and lessons learned to support continuous improvement within the environmental group.
What You Bring
  • Degree in environmental science, engineering, biology, geology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within construction, infrastructure or industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating teams and mentoring environmental professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and construction‑related environmental risks.
  • Experience implementing or supporting Environmental Management Systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
  • Strong organizational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Qualified Environmental Professional designation (e.g., RPBio, P.Ag., P.Eng. or equivalent).
Assets
  • ISO 14001 Internal Auditor certification.
  • Construction safety training relevant to British Columbia.
  • Experience on both infrastructure and building construction projects.
  • Experience working in marine, coastal or sensitive environmental settings.
