As our team continues to grow in British Columbia, we are looking for passionate professionals who value environmental stewardship and want to contribute to meaningful civil and infrastructure projects.

As an Environmental Lead on Woodfibre LNG (14/7 rotation) you will play an integral role in supporting project teams to achieve and maintain full compliance with environmental legislation, contractual requirements, and other project-specific conditions and commitments. Your work will help foster a positive and proactive culture of environmental awareness and regulatory responsibility with your project teams and throughout the Pomerleau family.

Responsibilities
  • Report to the Regional Environmental Manager and the respective Project Manager(s) for the projects under your purview.
  • Be sufficiently autonomous to operate independently within the context of the scope of projects assigned to you. Delegate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure open and transparent communication with, and amongst, the team.
  • Oversee the development of environmental management plans, permit applications, and other pre-construction deliverables.
  • Steward the implementation of field environmental management programs, including the coordination (or execution) of pre-construction surveys and/or salvages for fish and other wildlife, rare or invasive plants, and sensitive ecosystems as well as comprehensive compliance monitoring programs for water quality (marine and freshwater), underwater noise, marine mammals, construction waste and hazardous waste, noise and vibrations, etc.
  • Oversee (or deliver) environmental training for project personnel and generally promote awareness of the potential impacts to biological resources from our operations.
  • Serve as a reference for a small team of dedicated environmental coordinators and, as required by the needs of individual projects, coordinate the activities of third-party consultants.
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate environmental risks to the project, ensuring proposed measures are timely, effective, and supplemented as necessary.
  • As appropriate, and as dictated by the contract, operate as a key point of contact for external stakeholders, including Indigenous Groups, government agencies, and the public.
  • Be an agent of change and generally foster a positive culture of environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance across all our projects.
  • Be an ambassador for health and safety, leading by example, and making safety a priority in everything that you do.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or diploma) in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Geology, or similar field.
  • Available to work on a 14 day on, 7 day off rotation in Squamish, BC (accommodations and uplifts provided).
  • Is an applied scientist or technologist who is registered, and in good standing, with a professional association constituted under an Act and who is acting under that association’s code of ethics and subject to the association’s disciplinary proceedings (i.e., Qualified Environmental Professional). Consideration may be given to individuals who are currently in the process of achieving their full designation (i.e., In Training).
  • Working knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal legislation and the compliance management systems necessary to monitor, document, track, and report on the items as they apply to a respective project.
  • Experience in standard field techniques (e.g., in-situ water quality monitoring, sample collection (soil and water) and interpretation of analytical results, underwater noise monitoring) and ability to train junior staff and provide quality control and assurance.
  • Demonstrated construction experience (5 years minimum) on a range of complex, large-scale civil and/or infrastructure development projects in a similar capacity.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent intrapersonal skills and self-motivated when necessary.
