Job summary

VINCI Construction, in partnership with Deep-Water Intake Group, invites an Environmental Manager to join the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment program in Ontario. You will lead environmental strategy on a complex deep-water intake project, coordinating safety, planning and regulatory compliance on site.

You will implement EMS, oversee permits, conduct risk assessments, manage monitoring programs (noise, dust, water quality), perform site inspections, and engage stakeholders to

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree specialization in planning, environmental planning, environmental assessment, geography or related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in an environmental role.
  • Experience implementing Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
  • Knowledge of QHSE regulations applicable to large construction projects.
  • Experience tunneling or underground works.
  • Experience working on projects with high-risk environments (nuclear, offshore).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supported project teams in the implementation and continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System.
  • Coordinated environmental documentation, permits, monitoring programs, and regulatory compliance activities with consultants, designers, construction teams, and stakeholders.
  • Led environmental risk assessments during design and construction phases, identifying impacts and implementing mitigation measures to minimize environmental footprint.
  • Oversaw environmental monitoring programs (noise, vibration, dust, emissions, water quality) and ensured compliance with project requirements and regulatory thresholds.
  • Conducted site inspections, audits, trainings sessions, and awareness programs to promote environmental best practices and compliance across the project.
  • Managed environmental non-conformities, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring effective resolution and lessons learned communication.
  • Acted as the primary environmental point of contact on site, supporting project management with environmental reporting, reviews, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.

Whatistheproject?

ThePickeringNuclearGeneratingStationrefurbishmentprograminvolvesdesigningandbuildinganewdeep-waterintakeinLakeOntariotoimprovetheplant'scoolingsystem.Thiswillinvolve:

A1.5km-longtunnel,builtbyapressurizedTBM(10.5mdiameterslurryTBM);
Twoverticalshafts(onshoreandoffshore);
Anoffshoremodularintakestructure,restingonthelakebed.

Whatyouwilldo:

Theprojectisdistinguishedbyitsproximitytoanactivenuclearsite,requiringrigorousstandardsofsafety,planningandcoordination.

Concretely,yourtaskswillbe:
  • SupportedprojectteamsintheimplementationandcontinuousimprovementoftheEnvironmentalManagementSystem;
