Job summary

ONxpressCivils, the Design & Construction arm of the GO Expansion program, seeks an Environmental Compliance Officer to lead on-site environmental inspections and monitoring across corridor projects in Ontario. You will verify adherence to Environmental Management Plans, permits, and mitigation measures while coordinating with construction teams.

You bring a diploma or degree in an environmental discipline, 3+ years in roadway/transit environmental work, CANCISEC certification or proven erosion

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in an environmental discipline; 3+ years in monitoring on roadway/transit projects.
• Experience with watercourses and erosion/sedimentation control; reporting spills and containment.
• Valid Canadian Class G driver's license.
• CANCISEC certification or proven proficiency in erosion and sediment control plans.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and event-based environmental inspections of construction activities.
• Assess impacts to soil, surface water, groundwater, vegetation, wildlife, air quality, and communities; evaluate mitigations.
• Document findings, verify containment and corrective actions; follow up within required timeframes.
• Monitor dewatering and discharge; ensure proper treatment and release.
• Coordinate with supervisors and subcontractors to communicate environmental requirements.
• Maintain complete records of monitoring, logs, permits, approvals, and reports.
• Assist with environmental audits and regulatory inspections; support reporting and improvement initiatives.
