Job description

Tarkett is seeking a hands-on EHS Manager to develop, establish, and maintain an environmental health and safety program that aims to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements and provides a safe work environment free of hazards, pursuing zero work-related injuries / illnesses through a behavioral-based approach. This role is located in Farnham and reports to the Operation Site Director.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary EHS support for the site, responsible for all aspects and EHS reporting.
  • Serve as the main safety and environmental advocate for the site.
  • Assist with all aspects of the Environmental Health and Safety program.
  • Ensure compliance with Safe Work Practices (SWP), regulatory standards (CNESST, code du bâtiment), and plant policies.
  • Conduct training, assessments, audits, and investigations as part of the World Class Manufacturing system.
  • Manage ISO EHS requirements and the audit process for certification.
  • Deliver safety training presentations for diverse audiences, including new hires and temporary staff.
  • Provide EHS orientation to new and temporary associates.
  • Ensure contractor and vendor personnel compliance with plant EHS policies and procedures.
  • Perform and document behavioral safety observations and analyze data for trend identification.
  • Develop corrective actions and strategic risk mitigation strategies based on data analysis.
  • Maintain databases and software supporting the EHS department and initiatives.
  • Prepare monthly and annual EHS reports for the plant.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments of equipment and workstations.
  • Research and recommend safety equipment and assist with PPE selection and management.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Promote a 'Safety First' culture as an EHS Champion.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Safety, Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of EHS experience, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of local, provincial, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting, air permitting, and hazardous waste management.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation law and return-to-work programs.
  • Excellent root cause analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to facilitate RCCA sessions.
  • Bilingual in French and English, with strong verbal, written, and technical communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and presentation skills to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and spend significant time on the plant floor.
