Job Summary

As a Regional Biosafety Officer for our Health and Safety team, you will be coordinating the Regional Biosafety Program to ensure our program meets federal, local and corporate requirements.

Primary Responsibilities Include
  • Coordinate the Regional Biosafety network; maintain memberships and licenses, manage meetings, drive regional objectives, and keep records.
  • Promote and monitor compliance with legislation, license conditions, import permits, biosafety standards, the Biosafety Manual, and SOPs.
  • Arrange and document biosafety and biosecurity training for personnel.
  • Develop and maintain document management systems, including risk assessments and inventories of regulated materials.
  • Conduct inspections and audits, report findings, and drive corrective actions.
  • Communicate with PHAC and CFIA regarding biosafety permits and regulations.
  • Support review and approval of work involving infectious and biological safety at the site level.
  • Collaborate with the global EHS&S team to assess biosafety risks and improve programs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical or Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences.
  • 3-5 years of biosafety experience.
  • Experience with NHP and assets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Bilingual in French & English.
Role Specific Information
  • Locations: Laval, Senneville, Sherbrooke (with varying weekly on-site requirements).
  • Annual performance-based bonus.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift, on-site.
  • Full-time, permanent position (37.5 hrs/week).
