Position Details
  • Title: Environmental Health Officer
  • Salary: $89,752 - $109,193 per year (pay range explained below)
  • Contract: Term – until June 2026 (Maternity Leave coverage)
  • Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours (core hours Mon-Fri 9am-3pm)
  • Location: Ladysmith Office - located on the Stz'uminus lands - 100% Onsite
  • Bargaining Unit: PSAC Local 22000 (Public Service Alliance of Canada)
About The Role

As the Environmental Health Officer, you will implement environmental public health programs and services, conduct assessments, evaluate data, and provide guidance. You will also conduct inspections, develop educational materials, and liaise with various authorities and private industry regarding environmental public health issues.

About You
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Technology Degree in Environmental Health or Public Health Inspection recognized by CIPHI
  • Six months of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of current legislation, guidelines, standards, policies, and their application to First Nations
  • Understanding of First Nations leadership, jurisdictions, culture, and health practices
  • Knowledge of environmental public health principles and related organizations
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices
Occupational Certification
  • Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) by CIPHI
  • Certifications such as Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Onsite Wastewater Management, CSA Playground Inspector, Small Water System Operation
