Position Summary

We are currently hiring an Environmental Field Technician to support our fish salvage, invasive species control, and stream enhancement activities during the summer and fall of 2025. This role is field-based and primarily involves environmental monitoring and species inventory and relocation projects in Chilliwack, BC.

The ideal candidate will be physically fit, comfortable working in the vicinity of heavy machinery, and capable of performing labor-intensive tasks. The position requires commuting to the Vancouver office, with carpooling options available for transport to Chilliwack.

Contract duration: Mid-July to approximately the end of October

Typical schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM (subject to change based on weather and project requirements)

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct fish salvage using backpack electrofishing, gee traps, and dip nets
• Identify, count, and record salvaged fish species
• Perform amphibian surveys and apply PIT-tagging techniques
• Monitor stream excavation and maintenance activities
• Conduct manual stream maintenance using brush cutters and chainsaws
• Maintain and organize field equipment throughout the season
• Communicate and coordinate site activities with supervisors, clients, and equipment operators

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Basic experience in fish species identification
• Valid electrofishing certification (or willingness to obtain through training)
• Oregon spotted frog identification and handling certification (or willingness to obtain through training)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation

Compensation

• Starting wage for this entry level, full-time position will be $25/hr.

Further Opportunities

• It is our practice to look at our pool of field technicians at the end of the field season to retain as a permanent full time Field Tech with the company.
