As an Environmental Coordinator, you will play a critical role in supporting project teams to achieve and maintain full compliance with environmental legislation, contractual requirements, and other project-specific conditions and commitments. Your communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills will help foster a positive and proactive culture of environmental awareness and regulatory responsibility within your project team and the entire Pomerleau family. This is a fully site-based role.

What You Will Do
  1. Report to the Project Environmental Manager and/or the Project Manager and/or the Regional Environmental Manager (reporting structure will depend on project assignment and allocation).
  2. Participate in developing project-specific environmental management plans and permit applications, and assist in construction planning by ensuring environmental requirements are integrated into execution documents.
  3. Deliver environmental awareness training to project personnel, including subcontractors.
  4. Participate in toolbox talks, field kickoff meetings, and construction coordination meetings.
  5. Monitor construction activities for environmental and regulatory compliance by documenting observations, good practices, opportunities for improvement, instances of non-compliance, and collecting evidence in support of compliance.
  6. Execute sampling plans for soil and water, following provincial and federal guidance, to collect environmental quality data as performance indicators.
  7. Respond to environmental emergencies, including unplanned and uncontrolled incidents that may impact receiving environments.
  8. Generate routine environmental monitoring reports, incident reports, and spill reports.
This role could be for you if you have
  • Bachelor’s degree (or diploma) in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Geology, Sustainable Development, or related fields.
  • Qualified Environmental Professional (registered and in good standing in British Columbia) or in the process of applying.
  • 5+ years of relevant construction industry experience, especially in marine infrastructure development or marine-adjacent works (dredging, marine piling, blasting, infilling, etc.).
  • Experience developing and implementing marine mammal and underwater noise monitoring programs.
  • Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation, guidelines, and recognized Best Management Practices.
  • Advanced field skills suitable for a fully site-based role in Victoria, BC.
  • Self-starter and team player qualities.

The expected salary range is $84,000 - $100,000, depending on experience and location. Salaries are exclusive of bonuses and benefits, which vary by role.
