As an Environmental Advisor working in the Operational Support team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the project teams in ensuring environmental and contractual compliance of our projects. Supporting large-scale building, civil and infrastructure projects – ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will have the opportunity provide guidance, support and assistance to ensure legislative compliance.

What You Will Do

  • Navigate the regulatory maze by securing environmental permits and authorizations, collaborating with our regulatory authorities
  • Craft and implement environmental plans thinking; Environmental Protection, Erosion Control and Waste Management all with a dash of sustainability.
  • Provide expertise and strategic advice in areas relating to water quality, sensitive habitats, or contaminated soil to our Project Teams.
  • Masterfully coordinate our field teams in deploying environmental corrective actions with precision.
  • Act as the subject matter expert in all areas relating to the environment, not just internally, but with our external clients and trade partners as well.
  • Strategically support our Indigenous participation plans, helping to weave their knowledge into our projects.
  • You take pride in verifying and documenting the work of our internal and external teams, walking the sites, and ensuring our environmental standards and green codes are followed.
  • Managing our environmental KPIs is your forte – consistently reviewing for non-conformities, spills and best practices, sounding the alarm if the eco-path veers off.

This role could be for you if you have

  • An educational background in an environmental discipline (biology, environmental science, etc.)
  • Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) in BC or eligible to become a QEP within 6 months
  • 3+ years of work experience in a similar or related role within the construction industry
  • Hands on experience with sampling, erosion, sediment control, etc.
  • Previous exposure to assessing sampling data for project compliance
  • LEED or sustainable building certifications would be an asset
