Job summary

Next Level Games, a Nintendo subsidiary, is seeking an experienced Environment Artist to join our Vancouver studio. You’ll create environments that align with our distinctive Nintendo-inspired art style and contribute assets, scenes, and props in collaboration with concept artists, environment artists, and game designers.

The role is hybrid, with three days per week in-studio during the initial period and flexible work-from-home options afterward.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years as an Environment Artist or must have shipped a minimum of 1 shipped console game.
  • Experience with hard surfaces, organic forms, and architectural subject matter.
  • Experience in Maya, Zbrush and Substance suite.
  • Solid understanding of 3D pipelines and best practices.
  • Hands-on approach – able to collaborate with team members effectively.
  • Strong understanding of composition, form, and shape.
  • Experience with procedural content creation is a plus.

  • Play a key role in our day-to-day creation of environments.
  • Leverage artistic abilities to improve gameplay and player experience through understanding of gameplay fundamentals.
  • Demonstrate creativity and passion.
  • Help set goals alongside Production team for Environment artists.
  • Support Production with planning and be knowledgeable about timelines.
  • Support Lead Environment Artist with outsourced assets and ensuring quality.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

We are currently looking for an experienced and passionate Environment Artist who is excited to join our team! You will play a key role in executing on the unique artistic style and creating environments that have major impact on our players!

You will be heavily involved in the Environment workflow. You will be responsible for creating environments that are on style and represent the quality that we all know and love with Nintendo games. You will be hands on creating assets, scenes, and props, working hand in hand with our concept artists, environment artists, and game designers.

This is a hybrid role, with the first three months fully in‑studio. After that, there is flexibility to work from home, with a requirement of three days per week in our Vancouver studio.

The hiring range for this position is $67,000 to $84,000 CAD annually and is subject to change. The final base salary compensation will be based on factors such as skills, education, and experience.
