What will you do?
- Build user-friendly and feature-rich applications and system integrations to meet business needs, participating in the full systems development lifecycle, from requirements definition through design to implementation and operation
- Enhance and maintain the enterprise GIS platform to meet service levels and stay up to date with current technologies and geospatial capabilities
- Analyze and resolve complex technical and data issues related to application development, data integration, and application performance and reliability
- Assist end users to provide them with a better client experience using GIS software solutions
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree: from a recognized university in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline and (1) or more years of relevant experience as a systems analyst, application developer, solution architect, application system administrator, or similar technical role with an emphasis on enterprise solutions. Relevant experience where developing or supporting enterprise technology was not the primary function will be considered on a proportionally reduced basis. Candidates who do not fully meet, may be considered for the opportunity concept level
OR - Post-Secondary Diploma: from a recognized institution in Computer or Information Systems Technology or related discipline and (2) or more years of relevant experience as a systems analyst, application developer, solution architect, application system administrator, or similar technical role with an emphasis on enterprise solutions. Relevant experience where developing or supporting enterprise technology was not the primary function will be considered on a proportionally reduced basis

Skills required for success:
- Proficient in Windows server administration, including security and automation
- Experienced in secure web development practices
- Skilled in Python programming
- Knowledgeable in programming languages such as C# and Javascript
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft SQL Server, SQL, and T-SQL
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills
- Adaptable and resilient with a proactive and innovative approach to work
Assets:
- I.S.P. or G.I.S.P. certifications may be preferred
- Experience with HTML, CSS, Powershell, and Arcade
- Experience with ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Enterprise, VertiGIS Studio, ArcGIS Pro, and FME software is an asset
- Experience with Azure cloud infrastructure
Conditions of Employment:
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position. There may be a cost associated with this requirement.
Work Environment:
- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
