The role reports to the Director of Enterprise Architecture and requires 7+ years in technology, cloud experience, and strong leadership across strategic decisions and architectural direction.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or master’s degree in computer science/engineering, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of technology experience with Java EE, JavaScript, React, and web development.
• A solid understanding of integration platforms and modern RESTful APIs, messaging.
• Experience with enterprise databases (Oracle, SQL Server), Azure Cloud; XML/JSON; Linux/Windows.
• Experience with JBoss, Apache, and architecture modeling tools.

Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Enterprise Solution Architect to join our IT team in Langley, BC. Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Architecture, you will work collaboratively with IT project teams and business stakeholders to develop information, integration, and application solutions that align with Pattison Food Group’s technology standards and business goals.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical leadership, from strategic decision-making to project planning.
• Monitoring and assessing the solution portfolio to identify deficiencies, including aging technologies or misaligned applications.
• Analyzing the business-IT environment to address critical deficiencies, legacy issues, and technical debt, while recommending improvements.
• Supporting the design and construction of data integration and business application architectures.
• Collaborating with IT and business stakeholders to align solutions with business and IT objectives.
• Ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, extensible, and supportable over the long-term.
• Developing standards, policies, best practices, and reference architectures to guide solution designs and implementations.
• Mentoring technology teams on technical concepts while staying updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to support strategic alignment.

Qualifications

• An undergraduate or master’s degree in computer science/engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a large and complex retail organization.
• 7+ years of technology experience, including Java EE, JavaScript, React, and web development.
• A strong understanding of integration platforms (service buses, API gateways) and modern integration styles (RESTful APIs, messaging).
• Experience with enterprise databases (Oracle, SQL Server), Azure Cloud, and familiarity with XML, JSON, and Linux/Windows environments.
• Experience with JBoss, Apache, and architecture modeling tools.
• Azure certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals), along with familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes, is considered an asset.
• A proven ability to define the strategy and architectural direction for real-time data streaming in large-scale, complex environments, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and alignment with business objectives is considered an asset.
• A strong understanding of security best practices, compliance standards, Active Directory, Entra ID, and Agile methodologies, including experience using tools such as Jira and Scrum, is considered an asset.

Compensation

IND6 Compensation Details: $116,504.00 - $155,339.00 The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience and other factors.
