Job Title: Engineering Technician
Reporting to: CAD Manager
Hours: Up to 44 hours per week
Location: Toronto, ON

Purpose of the Role:

The Engineering Technician role is an important link between design, construction engineering, drawing and graphical production. This is an exciting opportunity to gain expertise within our company, with a view of building a long-term career with Dr. G. Sauer & Partners.

Job Description:

  1. Produce 2D and 3D graphical models, using Autodesk and Bentley software, based on sketches, schedules and reports.
  2. Create and edit models accurately and efficiently according to project BIM / CAD standards, design requirements and specific project agreements.
  3. Ensure graphical models have the appropriate attributes captured correctly.
  4. Develop tunnel engineering knowledge to communicate engineering solutions in graphical terms.
  5. Conduct initial quality checks on drawing sheets and submittals.
  6. Involvement in developing engineering concepts and bringing drawings to construction approval stage.

Required Skills & Expertise:

  1. Sound knowledge of engineering design procedures and principles.
  2. Good problem-solving skills.
  3. Good visual-spatial ability and willingness to develop further skills in graphical presentation and engineering.
  4. Proven ability to work as part of a team and ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  5. Proven attention to detail and quality, including adherence to ISO procedures.

Key Qualifications:

  1. Graduate from a Bachelor of Engineering or Technology Program (Civil/Structural preferred).
  2. High proficiency with 3D AutoCAD and/or Revit and/or MicroStation and/or Open Buildings Designer, ideally demonstrated by a portfolio of work.
  3. Interest in a long-term career in underground engineering, with a goal to pursue further engineering and graphical design education to potentially achieve a P.Eng. designation.
  4. Previous work experience in the heavy civils industry as a designer or support engineer.
  5. Eligible to work in Canada. Candidates without a valid work permit will not be considered.
