Job summary

MDA Space is seeking a Digital Electronics Test Station Design intern in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec. This is a 4-month mandate starting in September 2026, where the candidate will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team on spacecraft electronic equipment development.

The successful candidate will engage in the design, integration, and commissioning of electronic test equipment used in satellites. Requirements include completion of 5 semesters of engineering studies and PCB design experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 semesters completed of an Engineering degree and interest in the field of electronics testing and integration.
• Understanding of electronic circuits and communication protocols.
• PCB design experience.
• Good verbal and written communication skills ideally both in English and French.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the product design team to develop test architectures and methods.
• Aid in the design of specialized PCB assemblies for custom test equipment.
• Work with the product design team to review data and debug test equipment.

We’re on the hunt for a motivated and talented Digital Electronics Test Station Design. This is a 4 months mandate (with a possibility of 8 months) starting in September 2026.

Overall, the successful candidate would be treated similar to a new graduate joining our company, where tasks will be assigned relative to the level of schooling and experience achieved to date.

The successful candidate will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to develop state-of-the-art spacecraft electronic equipment, DC power supplies and associated regulator circuitry using PCB technology. Contribute into the designs while supporting documentation such as some analysis, parts lists, schematics, assembly drawings and test procedures.

Role

The Digital Electronics Test Station Design Intern will be responsible for design, integration and commissioning of specialized electronic test equipment for testing mixed signal (Digital & RF) electronic products used in satellites and other space-based systems. The chosen candidate will work closely with PCB designers, Digital (FPGA), Software and RF Engineers as part of a product integration team responsible for developing complex test systems and validating flight equipment. A dynamic work environment will allow for exposure to many facets of electronic product development and allow the candidate to grow in a well-rounded manner.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the product design team with the help of a senior Test Specialist to develop test architectures and methods for verifying the performance of flight equipment.
• Aid in the design of specialized PCB assemblies, for custom test equipment.
• Work with the product design team and test technicians to review data and debug test equipment and flight hardware.
• Produce technical drawings, reports and other documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 semesters completed of an Engineering degree and interest in the field of electronics testing and integration.
• Understanding of electronic circuits and communication protocols.
• PCB design experience.
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation such as:
• Oscilloscope
• Network analyzer (asset)
• Spectrum analyzer (asset)
• Arbitrary waveform generator (asset)
• Good verbal and written communication skills ideally both in English and French (Contact with customers outside Quebec).
• The ideal candidate would be a multidisciplinary, pro-active, enthusiastic, and result-oriented team player.
