Job summary

MDA Space is seeking a continuing education level technician to assist in testing and assembly of simple production equipment, under supervision of more experienced staff. The role involves following defined procedures, recording results, and facilitating test stands for equipment of simple complexity.

Candidates should have a college diploma in a relevant engineering field, 0–2 years of experience, and be comfortable communicating in French and English for customer interactions outside Quebec.

Qualifications

• Education: College diploma or equivalent in mechanical, electromechanical, electrical, electronics or related field.
• Experience: 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Language skills: At ease in spoken and written French and English (Contact with customers outside Quebec).

• Assist in setting up, modifying and checking test stands for equipment of simple complexity.
• Assist more experienced technicians or technologists.
• Participate in monitoring of thermal or vacuum chambers.
• Perform work in accordance with internal procedures and safety rules.
• Perform other related duties.

Role:

This is a continuing education level. May require supervision of more experienced technicians or technical staff to perform simple test bench assembly, modification or validation tasks. May be required to perform tests on simple electronic assemblies, passive or active telecommunications equipment, and chamber monitoring on more complex equipment. Must demonstrate initiative and progress within routine tasks with well-defined boundaries.

Minimum required qualifications:

• Education: College diploma or equivalent in mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics or related field as assigned.
• Experience: 0 to 2 years of relevant experience
• Language skills: At ease in spoken and written French and English (Contact with customers outside Quebec).

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
