Engineering Manager Equipment - Technical

Role Overview:

The Equipment Technical Manager is part of the Project Management Team (PMT) on the C3/4 Project, leading a team of Equipment engineers and designers. The role involves overseeing design and technical activities in accordance with industry standards and governance, reporting to the project Engineering Director.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Remove barriers impacting deliverables, collaborating with staff to find optimal solutions.
  • Ensure work complies with Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures, statutory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Prepare equipment specifications and scope of work in a timely manner.
  • Approve equipment and service requisitions from the engineering team.
  • Review vendor bid packages and vendor documentation acceptance.
  • Foster a positive team environment and facilitate collaboration across departments and with external partners.
  • Coordinate with project partners for design documentation, requisitions, and technical information exchange.
  • Plan and execute work aligned with quality, cost, and schedule targets.
  • Forecast resource needs, including skills and durations.
  • Oversee equipment requisitioning and manufacturing in line with contracts and specifications.
  • Manage interfaces between engineering disciplines and procurement.
  • Ensure final deliverables meet customer requirements and comply with nuclear codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with marketing and other groups to maintain client relationships.
  • Identify and propose project improvements proactively or in response to customer needs.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Electrical from an accredited university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in a Canadian province.
  • Experience in a licensed nuclear facility in Canada.
  • Knowledge of nuclear regulatory frameworks.
  • At least 10 years of design, equipment selection, and manufacturing oversight in heavy industry projects.
  • Minimum 5 years leading engineering teams.
  • At least 5 years of nuclear/CANDU experience.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary work with stakeholder engagement.
  • Familiarity with nuclear quality systems like CSA N286, CSA N299.
  • Knowledge of nuclear and industry codes such as CSA N285, ASME, B31.1.
  • Experience with projects under import/export controls.
  • Strong business acumen, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Security clearance is mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel and work at project sites as needed.
