Job summary

The Town of Smithers is seeking a strategic Manager of Engineering to oversee municipal infrastructure, asset management, and to lead engineering staff. This is a full-time, exempt position based in Smithers, BC.

You will lead capital projects, collaborate with consultants and contractors, and help build a resilient, sustainable future for the community. Applicants with municipal engineering experience and strong leadership are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Education in Civil or Municipal Engineering or a related field.
• Professional certification by Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) or Applied Science Technologists & Technicians BC (preferred).
• Five years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, infrastructure planning, or asset management.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
• Supervisory experience is an asset.

The Town of Smithers is seeking a strategic and collaborative individual to oversee municipal infrastructure, asset management, and lead engineering staff. This is a full‑time, exempt position.

Surrounded by mountain ranges and beautiful lakes and rivers, Smithers is a northern gem. The town has a population of around 5,400 and is a service hub for the surrounding region comprised of approximately 15,000 people. This position offers a competitive salary of $91,890 - $102,100 (commensurate with experience).

Essential Qualifications

• Education in Civil or Municipal Engineering or a related ?eld.
• Certi?cation with a related professional association such as the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia or the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of British Columbia (preferred).
• Five (5) years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, infrastructure planning, or asset management.
• Supervisory experience is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
