Job summary

The Town of Smithers is seeking a Manager of Engineering to lead municipal engineering staff, collaborate with consultants and contractors, and deliver capital projects that sustain assets and build a resilient future.

Qualifications

• Education in Civil or Municipal Engineering or a related field.
• Certification with a related professional association such as Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia or Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of British Columbia (preferred).
• Five (5) years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, infrastructure planning, or asset management.

Manager of Engineering

Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Salary: $91,890-$102,100 (commensurate with experience)

The Manager of Engineering plays a key role in shaping the infrastructure that supports the Town of Smithers. This position leads engineering staff and collaborates with consultants, contractors, and community partners to deliver meaningful capital projects, steward municipal assets, and help build a resilient, sustainable future. We welcome candidates with a range of engineering, infrastructure, project management, or municipal experience who are excited to lead, collaborate, and grow with our organization.
This position offers a competitive salary of $91,890 - $102,100 (commensurate with experience).

Essential Qualifications

• Education in Civil or Municipal Engineering or a related field.
• Certification with a related professional association such as the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia or the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of British Columbia (preferred).
• Five (5) years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, infrastructure planning, or asset management.
• Supervisory experience is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
