Company Overview:
Temspec is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of heating and cooling equipment for the North American school and condo/resort markets. Temspec manufactures products with a high degree of customization and this growing company is in need of an Electrical Designer.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electrical Engineering Designer works closely with the sales and production teams to review work orders and create electrical or mechanical schematics according to client requirements. He/she is responsible for creating drawings for components or electrical panels that will be used in the manufacturing of our HVAC units. The incumbent will act as the lead on multiple projects to ensure that all tasks are completed according to project timelines. He/she will anticipate and resolve any technical issues as they arise.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
· Creates mechanical or electrical drawings which include but not limited to (piping, coil and riser, wiring, and control panel drawings) in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD Electrical for project files
· Coordinate work with related disciplines. Interact with designers, engineers and operations to create high quality multi-discipline drawing packages for the production of HVAC units.
· Take responsibility for assigned portion of the project scope and schedule.
· Coordinates and monitors projects with the engineering and operations team to ensure continuity and avoid project delays while providing support and status updates
· Maintains expert level of product knowledge and applications to effectively provide technical support and advice
· Works closely with the procurement team to prepare bill of materials (BOM) using Visual Manufacturing while ensuring that required materials are ordered and received with appropriate lead times
· Actively participates in creating or improving on standardizing processes and procedures
· Maintains the database for parts and drawings
· Preparation of testing procedures
· Provision of timely technical support to production, sales & service departments
· Ownership of the product safety certification files within its area of expertise
· Preparation of technical documentation in accordance with applicable codes and safety standards
· Participation in new product development
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent
· 3 – 5 years of experience creating electrical drawings for control panels
· Candidates with an equivalent mix of education and experience might be considered
· Familiarity with a shop floor manufacturing environment
· Working knowledge of electrical codes, safety laws and HVAC related standards
· Proficiency with CAD software; particularly SolidWorks and AutoCAD Electrical
· Strong computer skills and proficiency with an MRP (Visual Manufacturing) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
· Ability to make cost/quality/design selections and decisions and Ability to travel locally and in the States occasionally.
· Record keeping and file management skills
· Hands on approach to resolving technical issues
