Job summary

Irving Shipbuilding in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia is seeking a Planning Governance Engineer to lead the development and implementation of governance frameworks, standards, and processes that drive successful project delivery and high-quality outcomes.

You will align planning activities with strategic objectives, monitor performance and risk, champion continuous improvement, and collaborate across teams in a full-time in-office role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent in shipbuilding, manufacturing or related field.
  • P. Eng. or equivalent required.
  • 5–8 years in a relevant role.
  • ISO 9001 certification considered an asset.
  • Experience in quality management, QA, process and change management.
  • Strong written and oral communication, with leadership influence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a governance framework to support successful project delivery.
  • Govern quality of function’s documentation and application of QMS for ISO 9001:2015 compliance.
  • Develop and maintain tools, processes, and resources to support the Framework.
  • Support risk identification and response to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage initiatives that support governance components using change management principles.

Planning Governance Engineer

Join our team and help shape the future of Planning excellence!

As a Planning Governance Engineer, you will drive the development and implementation of governance frameworks, standards, and processes that enable successful project delivery and consistent, high-quality outcomes. You'll play a key role in aligning planning activities with strategic objectives, monitoring performance and risk, and championing continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a functional governance framework to support successful project delivery.
  • Govern quality of function’s documentation and application of Irving Shipbuilding's Quality Management System (QMS) to help ensure high quality products and compliance with ISO 9001:2015.
  • Develop and maintain the tools, processes, and resources that support the Framework to help ensure successful execution and realization of objectives.
  • Support risk identification and response to support achieving business objectives.
  • Manage and execute initiatives that support the components of the Governance framework applying change management principles.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent experience in Shipbuilding, Manufacturing, Construction, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or equivalent required.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in a relevant role.
  • ISO 9001 Certification considered an asset.
  • Experience in quality management, quality assurance, process management, and change management.
  • Good technical aptitude, fast learner, and effective problem solver.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, experience presenting and influencing leadership.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
