Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking a Counselor, Safety (temp.) to join the Meadowbank complex in Canada. You will report to the General Supervisor, Health and Safety and contribute to our health and safety culture by developing tools, conducting audits and implementing safety programs.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years of Health & Safety experience, with underground mining experience considered an asset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health-related field required or related field.
• CRSP designation a strong asset; related safety certifications welcome.
• 5+ years of Health & Safety experience in a mining context preferred.
• Underground mining experience is an asset; mining industry experience beneficial.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Develop and facilitate Health & Safety management tools (JHA, JTO, incident forms and investigations).
• Assist in Meadowbank Health & Safety Program development and implementation.
• Initiate cross-departmental training to improve workflow and risk management.
• Assist in audits of management systems and Towards Sustainable Mining goals.
• Review and optimize HS software usage and document control across site.
• Conduct workplace audits of HS tool deployment and lead safety meetings.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Health, and Safety, you will be part of the Health and Safety Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

Develop and facilitate the implementation of Health and Safety Management tools (Job Hazard Analysis, Job Task Observation, Incident Declaration forms, Incident Investigation), as well as assisting in developing a Meadowbank Health & Safety Program;

Initiate cross-departmental training to improve workflow and streamline the management of risks both in operational level and in larger scope such as H&S risks;

Assist in management system audits as well as audits on the respect of Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) efforts;

Review and optimize the utilization of H&S software and the standardizing of document control and record management site-wide;

Perform workplace audits on the implementation of H&S tools (JTO, JHA) as well as streamline departmental safety meetings;

Other duties as required.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Bachelor's degree in industrial relations, Sciences or other field related to Health & Safety;

Certificate in a Health and Safety related field combined with a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is an asset;

5+ years of experience in Health and Safety;

Experience in underground mining would be considered an asset;

Mining experience is an asset;

Experience working in a multicultural environment;

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;

Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule:

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
