Job summary

Propak Systems Ltd. in Airdrie invites an experienced process engineer to lead gas processing projects for domestic and international clients. You will mentor and review work, interact with clients, and oversee fabrication and commissioning at Propak's facilities.

The role requires 5+ years in natural gas processing, PE licensure with APEGA, and strong skills in HYSYS, ProMax, VMGSim, and Flarenet. Expect domestic and international travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer registered with APEGA or eligible for membership.
  • 5+ years of natural gas processing experience with distillation, dehydration, LPG/NGL recovery.
  • Experience with glycol dehydration, sweetening, refrigeration, SAGD, compression is an asset.
  • EPC and/or Fabricator experience.
  • Excellent communications skills interfacing with clients and internal teams.
  • Experience with HYSYS and BR&E ProMax, VMGSim Symmetry, Flarenet.
  • Experience sizing process equipment (separators, towers, exchangers, valves, pumps).
  • Experience with deliverables (PFD, P&ID, Design Basis Memorandum, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Datasheets).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, including supervision and authentication of professional work products.
  • Interact with clients and internal teams to drive project success and technical quality.
  • Oversee fabrication and assembly of projects at Propak, Airdrie facilities.
  • Travel domestically and internationally for startup and commissioning support.
  • Develop relationships with clients and provide technical leadership as a lead process engineer.

Job description

In this position, Propak can offer the following career development opportunities:

  • Work on a variety of gas processing and heavy oil projects for domestic and international clients. The scope of the projects will vary from FEED studies, modular packages and full turnkey EPFC projects.
  • Acquire in-depth technical expertise in natural gas and heavy oil processing
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, including supervision, checking and authentication of professional work products.
  • Become a critical decision maker while working with a multidisciplinary team of engineering and design leads
  • Develop and build relationships with clients
  • Gain practical experience by overseeing the fabrication and assembly of your project s in the Propak, Airdrie facilities.
  • Travel domestically and internationally for startup and commissioning support
  • Receive mentorship from senior process engineers, supervisors, and managers to support your technical development and role as a lead process engineer

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineer registered and in good standing with Alberta Professional Engineers, and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or eligible for membership.
  • 5+ years of experience in natural gas processing experience with specific experience fractional distillation, gas sweetening, dehydration, hydrocarbon dewpoint control and/or LPG and NGL recovery is required.
  • Experience designing alternative processes in Glycol Dehydration, Sweetening, Mechanical Refrigeration, Oil Processing, SAGD, Compression is considered an asset.
  • EPC and/or Fabricator experience
  • Excellent communications skills required to interact with client and internal team members
  • Experience working with HYSYS and other engineering software (BR&E ProMax, VMGSim Symmetry, Flarenet)
  • Experience in sizing process equipment is an asset (separators, towers, heat exchangers, PSVs, flare systems, control valves, pumps, reciprocating, rotary screw, and centrifugal compressors)
  • Experience with typical process deliverables (PFD, HMB, P&ID, Line List, Design Basis Memorandum, Cause & Effect Diagram s , Control Narrative s , Datasheets)
