Position Overview

Alberta Transportation awarded Aecon a $595 million contract for the Deerfoot Trail Improvements project in Calgary, Alberta. Construction includes new bridges, additional lanes, and ramp/interchange improvements, scheduled for completion by fall 2027. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Field Review Engineer certifies that construction points meet contract technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review inspection and testing reports for civil work.
  • Ensure design changes are signed and sealed by the Design Engineer.
  • Verify that detailed designs are the latest version submitted.
  • Record site observations, conditions, and deficiencies.
  • Report non-conformance issues.
  • Stamp certificates indicating work compliance with designs, including changes.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of FRE experience.
  • 5+ years in highway construction projects, including road works, MSE walls, and utilities.
  • Professional Engineer designation in Alberta.
  • Understanding of civil construction rules and regulations.
  • Experience with large civil infrastructure projects and joint ventures.
  • Experience with public clients and transportation departments.
  • Knowledge of recognized international codes and standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • High sense of responsibility and quality work commitment.
