Job summary

Nova Steel Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the Engineering Department in electrical engineering and automation, focusing on Rockwell/Allen-Bradley systems and related PLC/HMI programming.

You will design, program, and optimize automated systems, develop electrical drawings, and work with electricians and programmers on improvement projects. Bilingual French/English and OIQ membership are desirable; a degree in Electrical Engineering is required.

• 3–5 years of automation experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the Engineering Department in electrical engineering and automation.
• Design, program, and optimize automated systems using Rockwell/Allen-Bradley platforms (Studio 5000 / RSLogix), with occasional use of Siemens and Schneider platforms.
• Develop and maintain electrical drawings for production lines.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot control and automation systems in an industrial setting.
• Contribute to maintenance plans and project execution with electricians and programmers.
• Document activities in the maintenance software (FIIX) and stay current with automation tech.

Job description

This position supports the Engineering Department in electrical engineering and automation. The role designs, programs, and optimizes automated systems (primarily Rockwell / Allen-Bradley), develops and maintains electrical drawings, diagnoses industrial control systems, and leads electrical and automation improvement projects in collaboration with programmers, electricians, and external specialists.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Engineering Department in electrical engineering and automation.
• Design, program, and optimize automated systems, primarily using Rockwell / Allen-Bradley platforms (Studio 5000 / RSLogix), with occasional use of Siemens and Schneider platforms.
• Develop and maintain electrical drawings for various production lines.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot control and automation systems in an industrial environment.
• Contribute to the development of maintenance plans.
• Collaborate with the programming team and electricians to support project execution and progress.
• Work with external technical specialists as required.
• Document electrical and automation activities in the maintenance management software (FIIX).
• Stay current with emerging technologies and developments in automation.
• Develop and oversee electrical and automation improvement projects.
• Perform other related duties within the Engineering Department.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
• Proven experience programming Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs using Studio 5000 / RSLogix.
• Knowledge of Siemens (TIA Portal) and Schneider platforms is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of HMI programming (Indusoft, AVEVA).
• Knowledge of electrical drawing design using SolidWorks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical is considered an asset.
• Interest in industrial maintenance.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Bilingual in French and English.

Experience

• 3 to 5 years of relevant automation experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
