Job summary

Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB seeks a Manager of Energy & Sustainability to lead campus energy systems, the heating plant, and building automation. The role provides technical leadership on energy management and sustainability across the university.

The incumbent develops programs to improve efficiency, reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance, working with facilities staff and external partners. A strategic, collaborative leader is essential.

Qualifications

• Requires accredited engineering or technologist program and significant technical experience.
• Minimum 7 years progressively responsible experience in facilities engineering, energy management, utilities, and/or building systems.
• Experience with heating plant or HVAC systems.
• Proficient with data analysis, reporting, and documentation tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.
• Valid provincial driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee operation of campus energy systems and utilities.
• Provide technical oversight of heating plant systems and safety/emissions infrastructure.
• Oversee BAS, HVAC controls, alarms, and access control systems.
• Coordinate commissioning and performance verification for new constructions and renovations.
• Lead technical input for capital projects and RFPs; oversee consultants/contractors.
• Support emergency response planning and after-hours technical support.
• Foster collaboration across departments and external agencies; ensure regulatory compliance.
