Job description

Role Title:

Encroachment Project Negotiator

Work Location:

Alberta, Canada

Contract Length:

Role Description:

Serve as the main point of contact for the Encroachments Project by engaging with landowners and other third-party stakeholders to document encroachments on the pipeline right-of-way (ROW) and coordinate mitigation where necessary.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate encroachment discussions between the project team and landowners or third-party stakeholders responsible for encroachments on the pipeline ROW.
  • Conduct site visits to negotiate mitigation options, understand concerns, and collaborate on resolutions.
  • Contribute to project planning, stakeholder engagement, and communication strategies.
  • Participate in project meetings, report on progress, and recommend strategies.
  • Manage encroachment consents, verify mitigation completion, and support file close-out.
  • Coordinate with Regional Land Representatives for landowner notifications and obligations.
  • Support stakeholder engagement efforts with service providers, manage work scopes, and identify efficiencies.
  • Ensure work quality of service providers aligns with project standards and regulatory requirements.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and support project reporting.
  • Assist in forecasting work progress and resource planning.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in real estate, land management, or related fields.
  • Experience in pipeline right-of-way acquisition and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of local land use regulations and Canadian energy pipeline regulations.
  • Understanding of technical crossing and encroachment requirements.
  • Proficiency in SharePoint and Microsoft Office; ability to learn new software.
  • Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of GIS and mapping is preferred.
