Job summary

John Howard Society of Hamilton, Burlington & Area is seeking an Employment Counsellor / Job Developer to support justice-involved individuals with pre-employment coaching, job development, and retention strategies.

The role requires building connections with local employers, delivering individual and group services, and coordinating with the Employment Services Team Lead to align supports with client goals. Evening/weekend availability may be required as flexibility is needed.

Qualifications

• This role focuses on pre-employment coaching, employment counselling, and job development.
• Requires intensive job development activities including employer outreach.
• Supports employment retention and maintenance for clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-employment counselling and job development supports to individuals.
• Develop employment opportunities by connecting with local employers in person, by phone, and virtually.
• Deliver services in individual and group formats and coordinate with the Team Lead.
