Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking an Emergency Room Technician II. You will assist nursing staff with patient care, perform EKGs, venipuncture, and specimen testing, and help prepare patients and equipment for procedures.

The role supports two units (Main ED and Pediatric ED) in a Level I Trauma Center setting. This full-time, onsite position offers a 36-hour work week, orientation every two weeks, and eligibility for a comprehensive benefits package including PTO accrual.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed as Nursing Assistant I with the NC DHHS
• Licensed as Nursing Assistant II by the NC Board of Nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced patient care tasks under nursing staff guidance.
• Perform EKGs and monitor cardiac rhythms, notifying clinicians of changes.
• Conduct venipuncture for blood samples and cultures.
• Prepare patients and equipment for procedures and assist with transport.
• Maintain a clean, stocked work area and assist as a patient sitter when needed.
